Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr Manning, One Life to Live/General Hospital; ex-Kiki Jerome, GH) and her fiancé, Taylor Crousore, have some exciting news: they are expecting a baby girl in January.
The couple shared the announcement in a perfectly 2023 way: dressed as Super Mario Bros.' Luigi during a livestream on the Twitch platform. The announcement came nearly three hours into the broadcast, a broadcast that also served as a fundraiser for War Child USA and Canada.
The video begins with Alderson taking an at-home pregnancy test.
"Yesterday I took a test and it was a faint line, that I was positive... for pregnancy. And uh I didn't really believe it 100% because it was a faint line and they said the test could be faulty so I got another test tonight," Alderson said. "I just got home from work. It's midnight. I just had hysterical crying scenes, so I look AH-MAZE, filming my first movie and I could find out right now. So I think it is ready. It will say yes or no. Ok. And she is...pregnant"
From there, the video featured videos of Alderson telling her friends and family, including Alderson's bestie Brittany Underwood (Langston Wilde, OLTL). The reactions range, as you might expect, from tears to some thinking they might be getting punked to an absolutely perfectly delivered f-bomb.
Since the livestream, Alderson has gone public on Instagram with photos and a bit more backstory.
"Surprise!! Taylor and I started trying in April of this year, thinking that it could take us a long time to conceive as it does for most people...after only the second month of trying, we found out on May 22nd (while I was in LA staying w/ Brittany Underwood) that I'm pregnant!" Alderson wrote in a post. "What I didn't know when we found out, was that Taylor had already planned our proposal for July 15th! He had bought the ring in April, they had bought his mom's flight in, and everything! The proposal ended up being perfect timing for our gender reveal, and I'll post a video on that later."
"To say that we are excited, beyond grateful, and living on cloud 9 is an understatement, Alderson continued. "This has been the most exciting year of our lives. We're so excited to start sharing everything you all missed this summer! PREGNANT!"
Alderson stepped into the role of One Life to Live character Starr Manning in 1998, when she was just six years old. After OLTL was canceled in 2011, the actress took the character to General Hospital. However, Alderson's days as Starr were numbered: ABC lost its rights to all OLTL characters in a battle with Prospect Park, prompting the writers to force Starr out of town after the character's lover and daughter were killed in a car accident. GH kept Alderson on in the newly created role of Kiki Jerome, but the actress chose to leave daytime in 2015.
