All My Children vet Josh Duhamel (ex-Leo duPres) is returning to television. The Emmy winner is taking on a starring role in the upcoming series Battle Creek on CBS. Vince Gilligan, the show's creator, also created the cable hit Breaking Bad.
Duhamel will play Milton Chamberlain, an FBI agent from Detroit who is sent to Battle Creek, Michigan, to set up a satellite office. In Battle Creek, he'll meet Russ Agnew, a local cop played by Dean Winters. Chamberlain and Agnew will form a crime-fighting odd couple with differing backgrounds and approaches to cases.
Duhamel has found previous primetime television success, including Las Vegas. Duhamel has also been a box office star, scoring big in the Transformers series, as well as romantic comedies, including the recent Safe Haven. However, All My Children fans know he started his acting career as Leo du Pres, one half of the popular Leo/Greenlee pairing, a role he played from 1999 until 2002. Leo was presumed dead after diving off a cliff with his homicidal mother in order to save Greenlee's life in October 2002. Duhamel briefly reprised the role in a dream sequence toward the end of All My Children's televised run in August 2011.
Battle Creek will premiere in the 2014-15 television season. Kal Penn and Janet McTeer have also been cast in the show. Based on Gilligan's previous success as a show creator, CBS has already ordered 13 episodes of Battle Creek.
Duhamel recently celebrated his fifth wedding anniversary. He and pop star Fergie were wed in January 2009. The pair welcomed their first child, son Axl Jack, on August 29, 2013.
