More than a year after she was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, former All My Children star Kim Delaney (ex-Jenny Gardner) has entered rehabilitation for alcohol addiction, her publicist said. In spite of her recent troubles with the law. Delaney has signed on to appear in a mini-series that will air this fall.
"Due to a stressful year, Kim made the decision to enter a program at Sierra Tucson," said her spokeswoman, Robin Baum.
Delaney, 41, was arrested in January 2002 after she was seen driving erratically on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California. She later pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to probation and a safe-driving course.
Delaney will appear this fall in an NBC mini-series, called 10.5. The four-hour ficitional saga will depict a deadly earthquake hitting the West Coast of the United States. Production on the series is set for June 17.
"We're lucky to have Kim Delaney," said executive producer Gary Pearl. "We're thrilled that she is looking great and healthy, and beliece she's going to be a great draw for other actors."
Philadelphia native Delaney appeared as Jenny Gardner on All My Children from 1981 to 1984. Her character's death shocked and stunned fans. She returned in 1994 for several episodes.
Delaney was seen most recently on the CBS series CSI: Miami, but the actress was written out of the show when network execs felt her character was "becoming less integral" to the show. Prior to her work on the CSI spin-off, Delaney appeared on the short-lived lawyer drama, Philly. She may be best known to primetime fans as on ABC's NYPD Blue. Her work on NYPD Blue earned her a Best Supporting Actress Emmy in 1997.
