Forget the typical cake and candles. Daytime vet Cady McClain (ex-Dixie Cooney, All My Children; ex-Kelly Andrews), The Young and the Restless) has a different plan for her birthday on Tuesday, October 13.
The California native reports that on that day at 9AM PST, she'll be "introducing the Los Angeles Mayor at City Hall in downtown LA for Domestic Violence Awareness Day, with a focus on elder abuse. The police chief will also be present, as well as members of the Domestic Violence Task Force. The idea of the event is to honor those who work in the field and bring more awareness to the issue."
McClain shared her harrowing real-life experiences in her 2014 book Murdering My Youth: A Memoir.
The actress starred on AMC on-again, off-again from 1988 to 2013 and on Y&R from 2014 to 2015. She also played As the World Turns' Rosanna Cabot on-again, off-again from 2002 to 2010.
