General Hospital's Ryan Carnes (Lucas Barnes) has a new project in the works, and fans can help the actor give it the royal treatment it deserves.
The Illinois native is set to star in and associate produce an independent sci-fi film called Amaranth that explores friendship, family, and survival in a post-apocalyptic world. Carnes will play Ronin, a member of the strange and savage group known as the Raiders.
States the film's official description: "The year is 2025, in an isolated town known to its residents as Amaranth. A monoplegic teen, Seth Ott, is in the process of finishing his mechanical leg brace built from spare parts in the hopes of regaining the ability to walk. When the town's leader tells the community they are running out of resources, Seth sees an opportunity to use his newfound mobility to help. As he embarks on his journey to save his town, Seth quickly finds out he is not alone as he crosses paths with J.J., an emotionally disconnected drifter, scarred by years of loss and grief. Seth learns J.J. is pursued by a mysterious group of Raiders searching for something that was stolen from them. Through perilous obstacles, and harsh winter elements, their friendship grows stronger as they trek further into the unknown. Both Seth and J.J. are in search of something important. For Seth, it's the resources his home so desperately needs to survive. For J.J., its redemption for a life full of pain and void of hope."
Says Carnes to Soap Opera Digest, "I'm so enthused about this project because it's an opportunity to help a first-time feature-length filmmaker make his dream a reality and I'm getting to be involved in the storytelling process from very early on. It's a rare occasion when I get to play a 'baddie,' and I'm going to get to dig into some bold character development."
