A week after losing a four-time Emmy winner from its writing team, General Hospital has upped the ante by bringing on another Emmy winner. Daytime vet Shelly Altman has been named co-head writer, effective immediately.
Altman joined the General Hospital writing team in August 2011. For the previous ten years, Altman was a member of the One Life to Live writing team. Before that, she served for four years with Another World. Altman also has previous experience in primetime, including the 1980s sitcom Kate & Allie.
Altman earned an Emmy in 2008 for her work on One Life to Live.
Last week, four-time Emmy winner Michele Val Jean left General Hospital to join the writing team of The Bold and the Beautiful. Val Jean, a former head writer, had been a part of the GH writing team for 18 years.
Altman will work with head writer Garin Wolf, who was promoted to head writer in May of this year.
