Days of our Lives joins General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful in halting production

Days of our Lives will stop production for an indefinite period of time as the nation grapples with steps to curb the spread of COVID-19. The other three daytime drama series have already halted production.

Days of our Lives has joined the other three daytime dramas in halting production as the COVID-19 pandemic escalates.

The NBC soap is already on hiatus this week and next, but the show will not resume taping when the preplanned break ends. Instead, the show will remain dark until further notice.

Unlike General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful, which tape about four to six weeks ahead of an episode's airdate, Days of our Lives has a much more aggressive production schedule. How aggressive? Check out what the show's head writer had to say on social media.

"[W]e already taped Halloween and some of November sweeps so there will be plenty of Days of Our Lives for the moment," head writer Ron Carlivati shared in a tweet. "Next week I am writing Christmas..."

That's right, Days of our Lives is taping more than seven months ahead.

The three other soaps are expected to have enough new episodes already filmed to get them through their planned production breaks.
